Watching the game again Id give Bridwell a 55/100 & Hellickson an 85/100.

I only watched the first three innings, but I liked the way Bridwell attacked the strike zone and the pace of his pitching.   He certainly looked like a competent major league pitcher to me.

As a reminder, we DFA'd Bridwell so that we could add relief pitcher Paul Fry to the 40-man roster.     Fry, acquired from the Phillies for international slots, is currently carrying a 4.66 ERA and 1.58 WHIP at Norfolk.

Just amazed. What do the O's scouts/player development people get paid for?

In five minutes of watching him pitch you can clearly see he is better than Tyler Wilson who is still on the 40 man?

Odds are one thing, outcomes are another.   And perhaps Bridwell is better than we thought.   Hellickson pitched reasonably well, I thought (only saw his first two innings, though).

Did we allow him to use the cut fb? That was his most effective weapon last night. He's got a nice breaking ball but it wasn't there for him outside of a hammer he took AJ out with to get out of a jam. He beat us with almost nothing but cutters & 4s FBs. Nice place to pitch, but he's had success in every AL East park but ours. That said, the pitcher typically has an advantage the first time through the league.

It is so frustrating how a guy like Parker goes to a new team and pitches well. Did Parker have very good minor league numbers? I could be wrong but I don't think he did. What's your take on Parker? As we all know, the Orioles have to stop getting rid of decent pitchers. It absolutely ticks me off that we lost last night. Absolutely ticks me off. Gausman better dominate today.

Remember the success that Wilson and Wright had when they first came up?  That's what Bridwell is having, except he's doing it in the AL West. The advanced scouts will catch up to him. Teams will see him a 2nd time. He's not a RH Jason Vargas.

However, this is what happens in baseball. Sometimes callups come up and you can ride the mystery for 2-3 starts. We could have used that this year. 

It was poor roster management to get rid of Bridwell. If we needed a 40 man spot we could have 60 day DL'd Santander. Is there really a need to have guys like Paul Fry or Andrew Faulkner over any AAA SP?

We got rid of a guy that we thought was a below average SP prospect to keep potential LOOGYS. That's the problem.
