We are so much of a better lineup its not even funny. And yet look at their plate approaches....we swing at the first pitch usually and let their pitchers pitch into the 7th every night. They grind and are patient with their at bats. We cannot even get a sacrifice fl. Last night TWICE we had a runner at third and no outs and didn't get the run in.We need to win this game today badly.

As you may have read, we have the highest percentage of getting runners in from 3B in the entire American League.    The fact that we didn't get it done twice last night doesn't mean we don't do that well.

We score more runs/game than the Angels and have a much better  OPS and OPS+.   We see more pitches per plate appearances than they do.

Bottom line, one frustrating game isn't a basis to draw broad conclusions.

More: the average AL team has had 214 opportunities with a runner on 3B and less than two out, and has gotten the runner home 107 times (50%) and hit 28 sacrifice flies (about 13% of the opportunities).

The Orioles have had 179 opportunities with a runner on 3rd and less than two out, have gotten the runner home 101 times (56%, best in the AL), and have hit 27 sacrifice flies (15% of the opportunities).

The Angels, by the way, get the runner home from 3B 54% of the time (good, but not as good as us), and hit a sac fly 13% of the time.

So, Roy, this imaginary world where other teams are hitting sacrifice flies at will simply doesn't exist.    We are better at it than most teams.
