BOLTONBOB - The view after the hurricane IRMA!!!

Well, bit of a week here in sunny FL. No electric/AC. ......... etc for 5 days, .........but tablet worked (when charged) for a bit of BBALL.......News, weather updates, etc.

Sunday was the 1st normal day for Cathy and ME - She went out (in full Ravens gear) to our Ravens Corner @ Mugs and Jugs, .... I enjoyed the comforts of home and my living room, 4 TV's (Direct TV w/ MLB and NFL premium package, Bright House/Spectrum - think Comcast) - Steak & Shrimp, beer, etc. And 2 BMORE wins!.

Ravens 2-0 -   looks like a pretty good Defense and Joe???, with a bit of a running game. Good combo!

Orioles - 12 to go and 6  losses down in the Wild Card race. Bet Roy and many have given up??? NOT ME!! Did i ever tell you ------

IN BUCK I TRUST

WILL 84 WINS DO IT?        11-1  Rest of the way?

Will the "kids" step up? Mancini, Hays, Beckham, Scoop, Manny,,, Bundy 165 innings so far, Givens 64 games  (Most in BPen), ......2.26 ERA, .... 72 relief innings (Most im BPen), etc.

Will the Big 4 - Britton, O'Day, Brock , Hart - give us "lights out" relief?

Castille, Calif - great combo 28 HR's total - no worries there

Davis, Trumbo not the 80 homers I was expectin" (47 total so far) - But Trey added 24, Becham 10, and Smith 13,  even got 4 from Joey, 3 from JJ,....... Pena & Genty had 2 each ,  1 from Kim and Hays,  Prolly near tops in MLeagues for HR by a team!

If we don't go 11-1, So be it!!

GLAD to be ALIVE & HEALTHY  Several old folks (neighbors) did not fair so well .....IN THIS CRAPPILY RUN......Senior Village ----I MPERIAL PALMS (Cathy staged a 1 person "sit - in"  to ...... "Change Policy" ..    .--- They tried to kick everyone out of the air conditioned CLUBHOUSE W/electricity for charging devices @ 9pm one night,.... Cops were called, neighbors jumped in and ........MGMT "changed policy to 24/7 open clubhouse 'on the spot' ...  Reminded me of the 60's MLK, & 70's Vietnam days where getting beat or arrested was not uncommon.  QUITE PROUD OF HER (I did help a bit) ...... We are funny that way about INJUSTICES,...... ALWAYS HAVE BEEN DESPITE THE COSTS - Many times personal.......

BOLTONBOB - Peace Out

Your dreaming Bob! The Orioles have been done since before the break! They never had the starting pitching to do what needed to be done.

The one good thing that comes out of this is hopefully they are not tricked again into believing that they are close. 3/5 of the rotation needs  to be scrapped and upgraded. I suspect Tillman will be brought back with hopes of a rebound, a starter will be promoted who is not ready, and another middling starter who hasn't failed he yet will get his chance. So I see little hope for it be anything more than marginally better next year.

****** I am glad you are safe and hope your stuff it messed up too bad. Best John

Prior to the Yankees series, I said that you can't win 3 out of 4 until you win 1 game.

I'll be very happy if the Orioles beat the Red Sox tonight ......... and if they do, then I'll be very happy if they beat the Red Sox again on Tuesday.

Keep fighting the good fight Bob!  I'm always amused by the bullish behavior of home association boards and mgmt. "Power corrupts. Absolute poser power corrupts - absolutely!"

YUP, tonight was the 1 loss.... 11-0 coming up!

IN BUCK I TRUST!

Said part is no second WC team is playing well.Every team besides the Angels and Twins are further away from .500 then the prior week.Twins and Angels schedule gets a little tougher.Still looks like 82 to 84 wins will get you in.Maybe less if Twins and Angels tank.

At this point I am more interested in seeing the kids play. I'm a little ticked off we lost tonight but we are done anyway. That road trip finished us. I want to see JJ and Tillman get a nice send off and watch some individual players.

They certainly were in a position to do it.

    • ???. Cowser took more swings against LF than any other LH hitter on the team ( not named  Henderson). He was one of the guys they did not platoon.
    • I think Kevin Seiyltzer was the fall guy for a team that thought they were a championship team.  This guy has overseen more a decade of hitting in Atlanta, has been through developing and helping young batters succeed when the league adjusts.  Most importantly, he has a ring!
    • Glad one poseur AL team is out.  I hope CLE wins and knocks the other one out tomorrow.
    • I honestly think there is very little difference in most the teams that made the playoffs.  The most wins was 98 wins and there was 12 teams with 86 wins or more.  It also seems that many of the teams are on the same page with scouting and analytics now hitting wise.  Years back you had moneyball which the A’s used before anyone else.  Then the Astros and few teams started with analytics and seemed to be ahead of the rest of the league but they have caught up now imo.  Now the move seems to be on launch angle and hitting homers by getting the ball in the air but that seems to be across the league.  Obviously some teams have more money and more talented players but the strategy seems about the same.  The main differences I see is in pitching in the playoffs which is bullpen games and using openers rather then a starter to go 7 innings and carry your team to win now a slight sign of trouble they are taking them out.  With all these short inning guys and pitching them in certain pockets we are seeing very little offense and the hitting with runners in scoring position has been awful.  It all comes down to RISP at bats and getting 1 or 2 big base hits in those situations.  We just haven’t been able to get those hits so far in short series.
    • And we've seen similar with Kjerstad. Kjerstad might be the best pure hitting prospect in the Orioles system of recent years besides Gunnar. I want to see him playing everyday next year is possible none of this sitting him versus LHP more often than not. These prospects need to get their reps and stop treating them like John Lowenstein and Benny Ayala.
    • I don’t see Elias trading off prospects anymore at least top guys.  We have moved a few guys in last year and I expect they try to build that back up.  They should have money to use if they want to add talent.
    • Blah, well Rob Manfred has to be happy along with Fox network. A Yankees-Mets World Series match up is still on the table and the Dodgers as well if they win tomorrow. I knew the Royals would get jettisoned by the Yankees without too much of a fight.
