There are two suggestions that Steve Wilkerson will be on the bench next year. Why? Where did this even come from? I’d expect Garabez Rosa in a superutility role way before Wilkerson.

Younger, switch hitter, plays more positions than Rosa. Rosa was mainly 3rd, 1st, and right field. Wilkerson can play any infield spot and the corner outfield. Has some pop from both sides.

Wilkerson is also more of a "speed" option and I saw a LOT less base running mistakes from him than most of the Baysox players.

He was also discussed as a potential call up when Flaherty went down earlier this year.

It doesn't matter what I'm advocating, a rebuild will not happen with Dan and Buck not having extensions. They are going for it, so what would you think is the best way to do that, given the parameters that they have?

I was answering another poster. I've already answered the OP using your parameters.

Would be very interested to see webbrick make a small list of what things he would actually like to see DONE for next year's roster, instead of just ripping on the current roster and whatever moves Duquette makes in the off season.

For example, who would you play at CF and SS next year sir?

Mike Trout and Trea Turner

I see us signing Cashner. He’s a dude with enough health problems and inconsistency that he’ll be a well paid Oriole for a long time. That 2017 career low 4.9 K/9 to go with his deceptive 3.40 ERA is Gallardo levels of perfect match for the O’s.

I expect him to be an Oriole. And, like you, I don't want any part of it. Tyler Chatwood feels like an Orioles' signee, too. I'm less nervous about him, but his walk rates are terrifying.

Assuming no trades all you can do is randomly pick out of the FA SP market. Instead of two SP in the 10-15 million range it'd be cool to see something like Darvish and Dickey but that's not happening.

I would really love to see Trumbo or Davis traded. That would be a successful offseason. How are the Mariners at 1B/DH? Can we repeat the Gallardo trade with a bigger contract?

If we're re-loading, this is a trade I'd suggest with Pittsburg:  Starling Marte for Mancini and Mountcastle.  Marte's under contract for 4 more very affordable years, but figure that Pitt was not happy with him getting suspended and not performing up to his usual norms - which was over 5.0 WAR average for the previous 4 years.  Great defensive OFer that agrees to play LF.  Pitt gets 2 bats that will be playing for peanuts.  Let them figure out where to play Mountcastle.

I'd be all over that trade.  Doubt Pittsburgh bites though.
