Mike Maddux for pitching coach?

I think the yearly influx of new ideas via a change in pitching coaches gives all the young pitchers a big advantage over teams that keep the same coaches for two, three or sometimes four years in a row.

Don't want them getting too comfortable.

A pretty shocking move for most of here in Chicago. I suspect it was more about him talking about other teams than performance related. He had a bit of a tendency late to say things he probably shouldn't to the media.

When you bring in a new manager, you let them fill out their own staff, imo.  So you fire everybody.  But that doesn't mean that they don't want him back and he doesn't want to come back.  Sure, he's a free agent now.  The Cubs job looks attractive, but I just wouldn't be surprised if he's back as the PC...or manager.

Maybe he can be the bullpen coach.But that would mean General Mills would be Cinnamon Toast Crunch.A different pitching coach each year,keeps the teams ERA high.Sort of like an apple a day
