Chris Davis to leadoff?

Chris said he wanted to be more aggressive and he has been. Now he says he's been overly aggressive. I don't think he or anyone knows what the issue is, truly. I like that he's swinging more and making contact, but unfortunately he's not making GOOD contact. Dunno man.

His eye has looked a lot better so far, it doesn't look like he's guessing like last year. The numbers in the small sample seem to back that up. I'm not really worried yet. He's at least swinging at strikes and laying off balls which is a lot more than I was expecting.

If he's playing in NL, I would put him in 9th spot behind the pitcher hitting at 8th. Let us all pray Buck will read this before tonight game.

Apparently he didn't read that or doesn't care because Davis is leading off again tonight.

Curious if anyone has seen him in BP. One of the tell tale signs of a washed up power hitter is that he no longer puts on a show in BP, symptomatic of a loss in bat speed,  I suspect that even in BP you see a lot of lazy fly balls off of CD's bat.

It's better that he swing and loft a few that may go deep enough to clear the fence than take fastballs near the strike zone, I would think. Unless his reactions are so far diminished, that he can't hit good fastballs anymore.  He has to trust his power and let his hips clear while the ball crosses the plate. Attend the "Kyle Schwarber Hitting Academy" maybe. Even if the bat speed has decreased slightly, he can hit it out to all fields on slow swings.

I would rather play Gentry every day if it meant he was leading off instead of Davis.

And I don’t think this is a good solution either, but still better than CD at leadoff.

Agree 100%
