It’s Amazing how excited we get over a .500 team here. Ultimately the Orioles will likely fade as the mediocre rotation plays to its real skill level and Elias moves any part with value that continues to over perform.

They might get better after trading the older players.

And for the first time in a long time, John Means gives me real hope that the Orioles TOR Pitching. esp. LHPitching has a chance to have 1 legit MLB pitcher.  Now lets find 1 or 2 more and  build a competitive team. No, as far as I am concerned a .500 team is not really competitive, regardless what kind of an upside down season it is.  I mean really WS competitive.

I think everyone here who's old enough to remember 1989 (I do, barely) wants another 1989 all over again.  A team that played over its head, got lucky, played great defense and was in it until the final weekend.

@DrungoHazewoodcan sum up that team better than I can, he's done a masterful job before.

I think that it depends on the overall context of where the franchise has been lately.

Right now, the Orioles are coming off of back-to-back 100-Plus loss teams in 2018 and 2019, and a current team that was expected by most to go about 20-40 over this pandemic-shortened season.

In 2015, I don't think that the OH at-large was particularly excited about a team that was hovering around the .500-mark all season long, and finished at 81-81 ........ at that time, the franchise was coming off of 3 consecutive winning seasons between 2012 and 2014, including a 2014 team that stomped their way to the division title by double-digit games (the Yankees, who were the 2nd-Place team that season, finished 12 games behind the Orioles.)

As someone who was too young for the 89 team, 2012 is the most fun I’ve had watching a whole season.
