I am curious what people think. If the Dodgers paid almost all of the remaining two years of his salary, would you want him on the team. Guy is a loner, smart and loves to rub people the wrong way. Is he a cancer or an unappreciated resource of knowledge.
I posed a similar question about Luke Heimlich a few years back and the result was overwhelmingly, “Doesn’t matter how good he is, PR nightmare and we don’t want anything to do with him.”

Which I find interesting, because a lot of Os fans are Ravens fans, there seemed to be a blind eye toward Ray Rice(even with video proof) and Ray Lewis(seems to be just accusations, since no criminal charges were ever filed).

My answer would be no, because the Os aren’t one good pitcher from being a contender and I wouldn’t want someone screwing with the heads of younger guys. That said, if he was on a short leash and sounded somewhat reformed to fall in line rather than toss a grenade in every room he walks into, I might give him a shot with a quick release if he started to taint the clubhouse water at all.

Why would the Dodgers pay all that money to get rid of him.  I'm sure people in Baltimore are more conservative than people in L.A.  Don't really want him anyway.  How would he react if the O's were going to lose 100 games next year with him on the team.?  I don't think you want to find out.

How does MLB's lux tax work?  If LA trades him, does whatever they agree to pay of his salary count towards the lux tax limit?

I wouldn’t have a problem with either guy. I wish people would really try to refrain from declaring guilt on the basis of accusation. There’s a long distance between being a jerk and being a criminal and too many people are eager to span the gap on the basis of too little.

I mean, Heimlich pled guilty.  He is, in fact, a criminal.

I guess the same question regarding Marcell Ozuna.  He was cleared of felony charges but still has misdemeanor charges potentially pending.  There may (or may not) be more to his story, as his wife was previously charged with domestic assault against him.

Aroldis Chapman is playing. So Is Roberto Osuna.

Ray Rice isn’t, and I think the biggest difference is the video. We don’t have as many details about Chapman, Osuna, and Ozuna. I think the extremely graphic nature of the accusations combined with Bauer’s history of anti-social behavior will effectively end his career.

Rice would have played if he was younger and more effective at the time of the assault.  Kareem Hunt was on camera kicking a woman and he’s still playing.

The Orioles don't have any players with history with Bauer.  It isn't like Rice, where players might think they know the true guy.  He is way too much of a wild card given the accusations and has numerous times demonstrated poor judgment.  A young team like the Orioles don't need someone like him around.

That’s true. Joe Mixon too.

It’s all complicated, but my gut feeling is that Bauer is done.

    • Frustrating sure, but boring is not what I would I say. We do steal bases at times. I would like for us to play more small ball sometimes and it is frustrating to see us be so homerun happy. I think with Westy back, we will see a resurgence of timely hitting as that is very contagious.   We saw that at the beginning of the year. Amazing sight to see for sure. I think the most disheartening thing that really shocked me is the apathy and outright disgust I’ve seen from O’s fans toward their team. Perhaps we have been spoiled? No idea. Maybe expectations were too high? No idea, but frankly, a lot of yall focusing on other things and simply not watching/posting would make next season a lot more enjoyable. This is the first time since 96-97 where we make the playoffs in back to back years and you guys have been acting like some real lame jerks this whole dang season. Frankly, yall should be ashamed of yourselves. We are an incredibly young team and with that come highs and lows, but yall don’t see that. You just love to complain and moan and bloviate. Where’s the heart? Where’s the loyalty? Where’s the gratitude? You’d think with all this team has overcome, especially being so young, y’all would be happy, but no. So go off on your little bike rides or whatever. Go watch a movie if this saga seems boring to you. I don’t care. Just for once this season, keep your immense negativity to yourself.
    • Really an amazing run, 4 straight years. I completely agree with the ranking, too. There's no way Kjerstad is still a prospect though, right? 45 days is the cutoff and he's played in 48 games.
    • i think we all are going to have ptsd from that 9th inning for a while,it was that brutally bad . they need to do some special to get us to forget about it
    • wow,did gunnar and adley have to do this last season?
    • I suggested that earlier but I think it's probably a bad play with no out. The O's have like 85% probability of scoring. There is a huge downside risk of Mullins popping up the bunt for a double play. He could also whiff on the bunt making at least Holliday an easy out. With one out and only 65% probability of scoring it's a much better play. I think if Santander and Mullins were reversed in the lineup Hyde may have done it but not when you have two shots to get the run in.
    • WE GOT US ONE - JD5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    • Completely disagree about Orr. He will be fine. His defense has been better in its first few games compared to McDonald’s first few games.     And some of these big passing stats are over exaggerated. There have been mistakes for sure.
