Ok, that would have been funny if Gausman couldn't pitch long enough to get the decision in a game where's he been spotted a 24 run lead.

So often you see a balk called and wonder what the pitcher even did, and wait for the announcer to explain the minutiae of the rule.

That is the rare opposite situation where the pitcher clearly balls and it isn't called.

On one hand you'd probably like to not pile on, especially against some middle infielder.

On the other hand, counting stats lead to bigger paychecks.  At the end of the year no one is going to care where that RBI came from.

At which point it was 25-3.

Also in a year where offense has been down, if you're a hitter you pad your stats when the opportunity arises.
