There is no way you could have known. It would have been reasonable to predict his BB/9 would be the same or higher than in the minors, instead he has cut it down significantly against the best hitters in the world. 

Not sure about Beast but he definitely needs a nickname.

Yup, and I’m glad Lopez has had success and made the AS team. His personal struggles probably make it more satisfying. However, Bautista makes Lopez expendable.

Teams battling for a playoff spot will overpay for an elite bullpen arm and Lopez has proved he has good stuff.
