I think you're right about that.

The perception may be the perceived width of the TV lines that make up their zone. Just to have the TV zone shown, those lines are certainly too thick than what defines the zone officially. While it's so common to have the ball over the white (ie. the actual strike part of the plate) AND also on the black (an official strike if it fits the right vertical specification), but when it ONLY crosses black, it's not a strike according to the rule book. I had a long back and forth with a poster (now either a lurker or just gone from the board) about five years ago on this and it seems to come up once in awhile.

They’ve just never caught on. It’s incredible, given their relative success. Though it admittedly doesn’t help that the stadium is an absolute quagmire, nobody should be allowed to play there.
