This will be a very tough series, IMO.  Would love to face a weaker pitching staff with the way our guys haven't been hitting the ball lately but hopefully they'll figure out a way to come around this series.  

The Mariners face the Yankees next.  Rodriguez can heat up then.

I'm not sure about that, the OPS split is like 26 points. I wouldn't call Suarez a hard thrower, either, his fastball averages 94 mph and it hasn't ticked up in the pen.

Interesting.  He was throwing 97 when I saw him pitch against the Phillies in Clearwater.

It's been an effective pitch but the velocity has gone down during the season, he was over 95 and is now at 94.9.

Yep. It's been kind of odd, you don't see many guys who throw harder as a starter than they do as a reliever.

Now that I think of it, when I saw Suárez this spring, he didn’t start throwing 96-97 consistently until the third inning.  First couple of innings were 94ish.

That makes some sense, he's not in there long enough to really get loose, I guess.

I’m very pleased we took two or three from the Mariners, and did some serious damage against both Miller and Kirby.  My only regret is that the game I attended was the one in the middle!  There were a number of good signs in this series, with several of our slumping players (Hays, Cowser, Mullins) showing signs of snapping out of their funks, very few strikeouts by Orioles batters, and excellent starting pitching, including Grayson in his return from the IL.   Good weekend.

He was between 95 and 96 the other night.  Hopefully, it has something to do with warming up differently and he can do 96-98 in a one inning role eventually.  He needs to get a few tips from his brother.
