According to the Sun-Sentinel:

Nationals to make huge offer to Cliff Lee

The Nationals may be on the verge on making Cliff Lee, the top free agent pitcher on the market, a huge offer, according to various media reports. The Rangers and Yankees are believed to be the front-runners for the left-handed starter, but the Nationals may become players with a jaw-dropping seven-year offer. They've already stunned the industry by striking a seven-year, $126-million deal with free agent outfielder Jayson Werth.

Wow, this team is so dumb. They are really dumb. For real.

It would have to be something like 7/180 for him to go there wouldn't it?

That was my thought too. I don't care what anyone says about trying to get fans in the seats, on top of the Werth deal this is just insanity if it's true.

There has been some serious buzz this morning about the Nationals throwing an enormous contract at Cliff Lee, culminating with a report by the New York Daily News that the Nationals will offer a seven-year contract that the New York Yankees would not match.

Well, even with the Nationals ready spend, spend, spend, don't get too excited about Lee in Washington.

"Not happening," one Nationals source said.

"Zero chance," said another.
