I think, in this lineup, he'd be a DH and play 3B five or six times per month. Like you stated, he's in a bit of a decline, but I just think he adds "that guy" to the team. I think he'd put up very productive numbers in this lineup and that he'd be a good fit with all of the young guys on this team. Now...all that being said...I don't think he's a guy we'd go after because he's owed a ton of money over the next 5 years. I really don't want to pay for his age 34 and over seasons. I would just want his bat in the middle of this lineup for the next 2 or 3 years.

Yes...I'd definitely take a 70 WAR career from Holliday!
-
I mentioned it in another thread, but I think Ramirez would be a great fit here.
-
If he wasn't so costly over the next 5 years, the guy I would love to see in the lineup would be Jose Ramirez. He's a consistent hitter, would hit some dingers in Camden Yards and is a doubles machine.

I don't think they can trade O'Hearn for a valuable player or prospects at this point. Mountcastle or Santander could land them an arm that could be the missing piece in the bullpen.
-
I think the only way this could happen is by trading Santander or Mountcastle.

All the talk about Cowser and Kjerstad…but what about Stowers?
clapdiddy replied to Sports Guy's topic in Orioles Talk
Stowers has been up a couple of times. They've seen him in AAA and know what he can do. It's obvious to me, when I see them acquire other outfielders, how the front office views Stowers. He's put up very nice numbers at Norfolk. Some would say outstanding. He's 26, gotten a few tastes of the bigs, but doesn't stick around. This tells me that the front office doesn't view him as a fit here. -
I definitely expect more WAR from Henderson and Holliday...and maybe not as much from Adley.

Was thinking the same thing. Would be hard to give both of those guys a big deal, but they could be the two guys (talking Gunner and Jackson) you build this club around.

But, the Royals are a small market team...how could they afford this? /s

Once Holliday graduates, the SS depth in the system looks pretty thin
clapdiddy replied to interloper's topic in Orioles Talk
Exactly. It gives the really young guys plenty of time to develop. I'm sure there are a few shortstops that will be available in the draft this year as well. -
What is Woodruff's status and/or injury? Never mind...I just read his Wikipedia entry. So, it looks as if he's out for most of the 2024 season. Sounds like a Bautista-esque contract. I'm in...

TT: Taking a look at the bullpen now that Hall is gone
clapdiddy replied to Tony-OH's topic in Orioles Talk
I believe that should be priority #1 right now. -

Pitching is volatile. Locking position players up is a safer move. I have no issues with pitchers on a 3 or 4 year deal, but I think you tie up too much money on anything longer than that. -

I could see this being something that happens with the O's on a semi-regular basis. This would save them from long-term commitment. You get a guy in here who is out to make himself some serious coin following his last year (or two) before FA. This could be a new formula for teams like the Orioles and Braves and maybe some other teams that can't afford to have that 30M dollar/year salary. And, quite honestly, if the Orioles are going to invest in a player, I'd rather it be Gunnar and/or Holliday. Get the position players locked up and get your "ace" through trade. -
Agreed. This is a one and done. I could see them doing this on a yearly basis if the farm system remains strong. Find a guy who is a year away from FA then letting them go for a draft pick...could be done for Cease if he bounces back and is not traded at the deadline.

I'm guessing there is another move (at least) to be made. I honestly don't feel comfortable with where the bullpen is at this time.

Personally, I hope Roch gets to stay and do his thing. He's put in his time here with crappy teams/ownership and they are now in a position to put a perennial contender on the field. Would be nice for him to be a part of all of it.
