I remember many of those players that had unusual stances like Franco would stand like that and shift into a someone normal posture right as the pitch was being thrown.

The point I was trying to make is I don’t believe anyone here can say with any certainty that Mayo would have more immediate success than Holliday did based on watching him a few games in AAA. Yes he has had more success in AAA with a much longer track record offensively. When they decided to bring Holliday up I am guessing they thought overall offensively and defensively he was more ready to help. There will be more outcry here when Austin Hayes gets back and gets plenty of starts. As long as they keep winning I just can’t argue much with their roster decisions.

To say Mayo is more major league ready than Holliday is a stretch. Based on what? 36 AB's at the major league level for Holliday? Mayo may or may not have the same struggles up here as Holliday, Gunnar Henderson, Nick Markakis, or Cal Ripken did. Maybe he won’t either but no one here knows even if they have watched every one of Mayo’s at bats. This team is 23-11 so the people making the decisions are doing a pretty good job. Fans always want the shiny new potential player over the seasoned veterans but the baseball people seem to value whatever the intangibles that players like Mateo, Urias, McKenna, etc bring to a 26 man squad. I would agree more with the shiny new player on a team that isn’t having success. That is not this team.

Mullins will get most of the whole season if he stays healthy, I suspect Santander will be traded before the all star game.

I am sorry but it doesn’t scream anything like that. This team won 101 games last year. There is no reason to trust the roster they have put together shouldn’t be just as good if not better. Holliday is 20 years old with very little AAA at bats. He will be up sooner or later. Westburg and Urias are major league quality players. Both things can be true that you can be concerned about wins and the make up of the roster in the short term and the long term. Holliday being on the opening day roster versus in May isn’t going to make the difference in whether they win the World Series or not.

RIP. You can't say he didn't have incredible timing. They announce a sale of the club just months before, say it will be finalized by opening day, and he leaves this world the Saturday before.

You are correct but I do like my cup of ice with it. Since I don’t drink alcohol it isn’t that expensive for me to drink soda at the ballpark.

I am team Pepsi guy all the way. However, I can resume buying a Pepsi outside the stadium and carrying it in the ballpark as I did when Coke was served before. If this is the worse decision made by management during the off season I am ok with it!!

It certainly does but I will say the change in ownership is as much of a motivating factor for the extreme interest in season tickets. Trading for Burnes also hasn’t hurt.

Yes agreed this just doesn’t make much sense. To be generous you are talking about $300-400 per day per person to send them to Florida. I don’t know how many people they need for these broadcasts but lets say 10 you are talking maybe $100K for them to be there a month. It is a bad look.

Just to join in with the old guys on this thread. I was born in Oct 1959. My first memory of baseball was the 1966 World Series. From that point on until shortly after college in 1983 we were in just about every pennant race. I certainly took it for granted. My 36 year old who is a huge Oriole fan certainly has seen a different history than I did. I don’t know in this modern era if we can have as sustained success like that but I haven’t been this optimistic it could be pretty good for another good run.

It would have been very difficult for the Angelos to have paid the estate taxes and kept the Orioles in their family even if they wanted to. Add the fact that Baseball would still have had to approve the transfer from his estate to one of the family members which I don’t think they would have any stomach to do and the fact none of them have any other significant outside source of income other than the Orioles it seemed highly unlikely to ever stayed in their family. To say the least this looks like a real happy ending.
