  1. I read tonight that Dylan Bundy was ejected tonight against Norfolk for having a sticky substance. I find this very sad. His fastball is gone and he is trying to hang on my any means possible. I always liked the guy. I guess it is tough to have been the labeled top pitching prospect ever to where he is at his still young age.
  2. Thanks for that. Not the gap that I thought.
  3. Yes I think these rules have been great. The Orioles winning may make them seem greater than I would have otherwise but this seems good for the game. Comparing to the 70's just the amount of pitching changes that occur in the modern game are going to make the over all games slower. I would like to know what the average innings most starters went then compared to now. Just a guess that it was 7 + then and it is about around 4 or so now.
  4. Look this isn't about being embarrassed or not. It is about money. It is extremely obvious that the current ownerships only source of income is from the Orioles. Unlike when Peter Angelos was making money at his law firm. If they made a profit showing more games they would.
  5. I understand the main reason they haven't opened earlier is because they couldn't get enough employees to work the stadium since covid. Like many of the service industry there has been a shortage of labor.
  6. We will see in 25 days or so but unless his outings go way worse then his first one did I don't see it happening. Grayson starting 3 or 4 times in April means higher ticket sales for his games. It would also be a big time PR hit if he pitches well and they send him down for service time manipulation. They aren't stupid, if they were planning to do that the narrative would have been very different when they asked about their intentions for him in the rotation.
  7. I think he starts Monday in Texas then Saturday at home against the Yankees. They get a sell out on opening day and then get max attendance for the second home game of the year. Not a game I would go to usually because of the weather but if that plays out I will go.
  8. I toured it as well and my company bought 6 seat licenses. They have done a great job with it. I have tickets to Springsteen, The Eagles, Blink 182, and Chris Stapleton. Just an over this hill me with some over the hill stars!
  9. There is nothing over the hill about putting on a great show for 3 hours. He has had 3 top of the chart albums in the last 3 years. No one is holding a gun to anyone's head to buy a ticket so they can "grab your cash". I will give it willinging. Go or don't go but this will be a big event for Camden Yards.
  10. I have little doubt they have a focus on trying to win. They are just not going to do it by spending 200 million on a free agent player. There is an argument to be made that the just spending money approach doesn't guarantee success. The true measurement will be is when it is time to pay their home grown players or they just choose to sell them off for more prospects.
  11. The Orioles certainly haven't made any splash moves and signed or traded for any top tier players which would clearly have moved the needle for the talent level for the Orioles. I don't think that was unexpected. Many people feel the only reason is because they won't or don't want to spend the money necessary to do so. Maybe that is the sole reason or not. However have all the collective moves made this team better? I think so. Lets look at the rotation. Is Kyle Gibson going to be equal or better to Lyles? I think there is a good chance he could be better but lets say it is a wash. Is this year's Kremer going to be as good as last years? I think he could be but maybe not. Is 2023 Bradish better than 2022? I going with the 2023 version being better. Is Irvin, Grayson Rodriquez, Tyler Wells, John Means, and maybe this year's version of Voth going to give us a combination of starts better than Bruce Zimmerman, Spencer Watkins, and all the others who made starts in 2022? I think this year's is better and a potential to be much better. On the offensive side I believe full years of Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutschman will be much better. Do we get more or the same from Austin Hayes and Ryan Mountcastle? I am not as confident this year's versions will be better but I don't think they will be worse. I think Mateo and Santander will be offensively the same or better. All of this I think at least gives the Orioles at least 5 plus or more victories which puts us in or on the verge of the playoffs. If another prospect or two like Cowser and Westburg bust out for the big club we could do much better than that.
  12. Well I am happy about that. Pepsi! No Coke!
  13. I look at this as similar to professional tennis making the in/out line calls completely computer determined. I know up and down parts of the strike zones are different batter to batter but not inside or outside. It certainly eliminated arguing whether a ball was in and out in tennis. Yes maybe I do miss John McEnroe yelling "you have got to be kidding me". LOL. It does take away Adley's framing advantage but I feel it will just make him better at the other defensive skills he possess.
  14. https://www.masnsports.com/blog/if-the-abs-system-comes-to-triple-a-could-mlb-be-far-behind I think this is good and I would expect we will see this as soon 2024 in the major leagues.
  15. I am surprised not to see a Gunnar Henderson either T-Shirt or bobblehead. I also hope they decide to do the bring your dog to the park games. They haven't done that since the pandemic even though other teams did do it last year.
  16. I wouldn't put much stock in Twitter rumors. Until Peter Angelos passes I don't see any serious final negotiations taking place to sell the team. Now they could move fairly quickly after that happens but I doubt they do until that happens.
  17. I had to read this again. I thought they claimed Cameron Diaz. I was excited.
  18. https://www.baltimoresun.com/maryland/bs-md-angelos-legal-family-feud-hearing-20221026-xkpayg3mkremrc7iilqx5evxgq-story.html Wow, if you wrote this stuff in a movie people would say it was fake. The law offices have been using Peter Angelos signature stamp for over 4 years to write checks including payroll. Wells Fargo claims they have only become aware lately that Angelos had become ill. I guess nobody that works for Wells Fargo reads the Hangout!. I am just a lowly CPA. I need to ask the lawyers here what are the ethical issues with lawyers who are well aware that the bossman hasn't been around but they have been doing financial transactions like paychecks with his stamp on it and no one questioned that this could be a problem?
  19. They can watch the Nashville Rays in a couple of years.
  20. They are not going to put Westburg on the 40 man for 8 games. Again he doesn't have to be this year. Nevin is on the 40 man. I doubt they will play Nevin unless Varva can't play.
  21. I think you may have been correct before tonight's pitching blowup. I think it will depend on how they make out the last two against the Red Sox.
  22. Spenser Watkins may be the next guy sent down for another arm.
  23. Of course this post was coming. Hindsight is 20/20. He used the players in the spots that has got this team to where they are today. Playing meaningful games in late Sept. Sometimes you have to tip your hat to the other team who were DUE to score some runs. Baumann was starting his second game in his major league career. He got through a grreat lineup twice allowing 2 runs. He went to his strength, his well rested bullpen. If Baumann came out in the 5th and gave up runs he would be getting ripped for that.
  24. I will take 5 middle rotation SP like Kremer and Bradish
