I’m always confused why Holt doesn’t just wear a mask for mound visits instead of covering his mouth with his hand. Gotta be a few of those lying around.
Ugh Harvey is done. Career wise

.542/.607/1.083 (includes Monday of last week), while making several highlight reel catches in centerfield.
I guess the 4th home run and the 10 RBI compared to 4 made the difference.
Oh I didn’t include Monday. Still GG defense in CF >> DH.

Seems like Cedric’s .600/.667/1.083/1.750 slash line would’ve been the winner.

#8. Stays back and puts a good swing on this breaking ball not trying to pull it. 2 walks so far as well. Starting at 1B.
That thing really carried or he’s got some 2013 Chris Davis power.

Unless a team sees him as an .800 OPS CF with plus defense and 5 years of team control, I wouldn’t trade him.

What is the point of a Sept call up? He barely gets his feet wet and you start the clock. Either do it soon or just wait.
Yep. I’d get him up to AAA for this month and then bring him up around the ASB. Have to assume he would’ve dominated AA last year if there had been a season. I just want him to see more seasoned P at AAA and let him loose unless he bombs there.

Lowther has been recalled from Norfolk (Tyler Nevin sent back down).
Lowther is available for "bulk relief" tonight so he will likely follow Harvey, who is only expected to go a couple innings.
Lowther had been scheduled to start for Norfolk vs Durham tonight; now Konnor Wade will start for the Tides.
Is Harvey only expected to go a couple of innings because he sucks and is gonna get pulled early, or is there an injury I’m unaware of?

Can’t think of anyone more suited for this.

Mike I’m so thrilled to have been able to meet you and be part of OH with you. You’ve always had such an amazing sense of humor and positivity about you, and a love for all things Orioles. Till we meet again

It’s good to see him doing better, I think ultimately he’s bullpen material though.
Yeah I think he’s a two times through the order guy but he has been pushed a little more lately, and is starting to respond. He’s gone the opposite way of Kremer, and that’s a good thing

It’ll be a fun two weeks until he’s injured again

Looking at that line of tweets, someone needs to tell Jeff with a G that the prior regime drafted Rodriguez.
He did say he has info that isn’t publicly available, so........

If any team values Mullins as a .750-.800 hitter, with plus defense and 5 years of team control, I’d be willing to talk about trade. I doubt any team values him that highly

This is so ridiculous. I hate this idea of not taking BPA. I don’t understand the justification

I’ve just seen enough of Franco. Who’s next

I get that, but we already have Wells and Armstrong who really just need to be in mop up roles right now. Admittedly, the starting pitching has been bad enough lately that we could use a bunch of mop up relievers, but I think Scott could benefit from pitching when it matters but there is a little bit of wiggle room.
I’d like to see Armstrong DFAd and put Kremer or Lopez in the pen. Let Akin start and bring up Baumann to start later in the year.
-
I’d like to see them be creative with the pitching assignments. But I don’t know if Scott as an opener is the way to go. With his lack of control we could be out of the game in the first two innings. I’d rather he just get mop up duty until he finds his release point consistently.
I do agree with Lopez being limited to 4-5 innings. Same with Kremer. They both tend to implode the third time through the order. However the beginning of the year is the time to test them and see if they improve.

Sticking with only opening an hour before first pitch and not opening additional gates. Seems dumb!
I’m sure cramming everyone through the same gate in a small time frame will be great for social distancing. Of course, no need to worry about full capacity. Unless it’s Yankees or Red Sox

I’m curious what the economic value is of free health care for life? I.e., what is the cost to a team of providing that? I’d be interested to know exactly how that is done.
Here’s something saying that average lifetime health care cost for a male is $268 k. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1361028/
Figure the team missed paying for the first 20-25 years, but those are the cheapest. So it’s gotta be more than $200 k per player.Based on that, you can see why it would be rare for a major league team to call up some minor leaguer for a cup of coffee just to thank him for his MiL service.
Gotta think the flexibility in jobs/career you pursue is an added bonus. He can start his own business without having to worry about the cost of health care.

House or Watson are fine with me. Like SG said, I’m a little concerned with the Vandy boys. I assume that they, along with Lawlar and Mayer will be gone at 5.

Anybody talking about the Hulkster behind the plate?
Glad to see a little fight offensively.

That was almost an amazing catch

Oh no that looked awful

They’re all disrespectful. He’s a Hall of Famer who spent over half his career in Baltimore. If you’re gonna retire numbers, that’s one you retire.

I haven’t seen anything that suggests he’s more than organizational filler. Straight FB, low 90s, not great command. He hasn’t given them a chance to keep him in Baltimore because he gets lit up every time he’s out there.
