That was the best I’ve seen Kremer this year.   Threw a good strike percentage (65%) and stayed ahead of the hitters for the most part.   He didn’t miss a ton of bats and yielded a lot of fly balls (14 fly outs to 2 ground outs), but there was good life on his fastball and the hitters weren’t squaring it up.   He was pretty pitch efficient at 94 pitches over 6 IP.  Overall, a step in the right direction.

Didn’t get a chance to watch, but the high number of fly outs is concerning. How many would’ve been problematic in OPACY?

I’d be shocked if we got that.  I’m thinking something in the area of 2 players in the 8-15 range in an organizations ranking and not from an organization that is really deep.

I mean, we will see right.  Just saying we saw that Mancini didn’t bring us overwhelming offers in 2019 and he was one of the best 30 offensive players in the league that year.

Of course, Mullins is at a key position and brings more to the game than just offense (assuming the offense continues), so that could definitely change things.

I just think teams will want to see more of him.

Is he a better player than Jackie Bradley Jr? JBJ had a 5 WAR season and the Sox kept him.  The year before that his WAR was 1.9 and in the 5 years since that year, his combined WAR had been 8.  Thats not a bad player but obviously a big drop off.

Maybe if Boston dealt him after his 5+ WAR season, they save a lot of money long term and get back some really good players.  My guess is fans would have hated to see him dealt.  “He’s ready to break out”. “Star player”, etc.... but after that, he was merely a good asset to have around mainly because of his defense.

I agree with this and think it’s all the more reason that he wouldn’t be a serious trade chip. Elias should start getting ready for .500ish baseball next season and ready to reinforce what’s missing in ‘23.

    It’s a good thought too.

At some point, decisions need to be made about a lot of guys.  You can’t play everyone and you don’t wait until their value is near zero before you do something with them.

Maybe Mullins is part of the future or maybe he is just hot right now.  You just need to wait and see what he does.

What do you think a team will give you for Mullins if he has a .900 OPS in July? A Top 100 player? Maybe 2? Wouldn’t it be better to just keep the guy who’s already producing at the ML level with 5 more years of team control?

Me, too. These days, when "a few innings" means 2 to 2 and 1/3 or 2/3 innings, Lopez was dominant for four and recovered strongly from the two solo homers in the fifth. I was simply amazed by the command of his 95-97 mph fastballs.

I wouldn’t say he recovered strongly from the two HR. The next batter was a few feet away from making it 3 in a row. I get the decision to test him there and see if he can get through 5, but I think his future is as a 2-3 inning opener or long/middle relief.
