  1. I don't remember where i read it but do remember it being an arm/shoulder injury that he is healing up from.
  2. I think the corners are going to lead to a lot of weird caroms and possibly seeing a few inside the park home runs from them. And seriously force teams to put good OF'ers in left instead of putting horrible fielders out there (DJ Stewart). I like it. The game has gone away from speed and defense, hopefully this will reward those that value it.
  3. Wouldn't be surprised to see Yahn resurface as a coach in the system.
  4. Honestly i feel that Stewart's only role he is qualified for is LH PH. I don't want him to be a 3rd or 4th choice as DH clogging up the roster. The backup roles are Benboom, Owings, Odor, and McKenna. Odor and Stewart could be swapped but honestly I'd rather neither one made the team.
  5. "Welk has made a total of 12 starts in the outfield in his minor league career (all last season)" I hear he can be orchestral to the team though ...
  6. I was there. Upper Box, behind home plate, row DD.
  7. Was Matt Riley before Rajsich? He was a fireballing southpaw with a great 12-6 curve but not very bright.
  8. Adley's got the boo-boo. He will start there.
  9. There will be dumpster diving later towards the end of spring. Waiver wire pickups to determine our new #3 in the rotation.
  10. My stab at it: SP (5): Means, Lyles, whoever has a good ST out of Zimmerman, Akin, Kremer, Lowther, A Wells, T Wells (could go back to BP), Lopez, Baumann, waiver wire pick-up (yes i fully expect at least one). So that's 2 locks, barring injury. RP: Sulser, Tate, Scott, Fry, Baker, T Wells (if not in rotation), Lopez (if not in rotation), Any of those that don't make the rotation above, possibly Bautista and/or Vespi. Vespi may even beat out Fry. C Chirinos, Taylor IF Mountyourcastle, Urias, Mateo, Owings, KGutierrez, Odor DH Mancini OF Hays, Mullins, Santander, McKenna Owings and Mateo have OF experience so i think they both make it. Odor is the wildcard, does he make the team? I think it makes the most sense to keep 15 P and 13 Bats but that doesn't mean that's what will happen.
  11. i voted 2026+. Blame me. I'm Debbie Downer today.
  12. What do you mean no regulars? 3B is a lock for Gutierrez.
  13. That's a great write up SG
  14. speaking of floating, that sounds like a crap thing to do. guarantee his agent does it.
  15. I don't know about that. I chuckled over the "never missed a beat" and his heart condition. Maybe i'm a sick f***, maybe not. I still laughed.
  16. I still believe Wieters was a helluva good ballplayer for the O's. I understand to a point that he wasn't what many expected but when you set your expectations so high, there is only one result most likely to occur. I liked Matt as an Oriole and still commend his career.
  17. I don't want to work, I want to bang on my trash can all day
  18. I have found that I enjoy attending minor league games much, much more than major league games since the players try so much harder, the games are typically quicker, and the prices aren't so astromical that you have to save to buy a beer or 4.
  19. There are several "extremely toolsy" guys with possible 80 grades heading into the new season but who knows how this season will/might separate them. Termarr Johnson supposedly has an 80 hit tool but is playing SS, but projects to be 2B at best. Elijah Green is off the charts but has a lot of swing and miss in his hit tool, although the raw power, fielding, arm are elite. Andruw Jones Jr is all around toolsy, no flaws but his youth, is playing SS although he projects to be CF by all reports. Then there are a slew of SS and OF college bats that could elevate. Pitching is thin as all get out. Right now anyway.
  20. Interferes with their tee times.
  21. My hope is that one of Zimmerman, Akin, Wells (A), Lowther, Kremer or Baumann has a real breakout year. It is getting very discouraging that the O's aren't pouncing on one of the infielders in FA. So what we have guys that "might" get a cup of coffee at the end of this year. Make them earn their spot on the roster rather than see if they don't fail. Correa, Story, Seager any of which improves this lineup and defense immediately. "We have Westburg and Gunnar possibly coming up near the end of this season", do you really think that even if one does come up this season and gets a chance to play every day next year, that they will instantly be good? It just doesn't happen often that way. What if neither can cut it in the big leagues? Throw in the towel for another 4 years of rebuilding? Hi we have become the Pirates.
  22. Thank you for sharing! Very optimistic. Great little write-up. He's on my radar now for sure.
  23. Thanks for sharing this. I am most interested in Anderson De Los Santos. I'm a box score watcher (ok fine, junkie) and noticed he had a lot of nice days at the plate. Sadly, I don't know exactly how he may be as a prospect but now seeing that he is only 17, I'm more interested in watching him progress through the system. Pinto, Hernaiz, Tavera, Teter, Young, et al i've heard of, read scouting reports on, etc.
  24. In all fairness, Cal single-handedly (due to the streak) put butts in seats and captivated the fans, can say brought in new fans, on the heels of a strike that put a bad black eye on baseball. I think you hold the flight another 10 minutes for him. I spoke to Cal a few times over the years and he always seemed a humble man, he had my respect from the first time. Ultimate team first individual.
  25. But, he was really good before coming to Baltimore. /end sarcasm
