These aren't your older brother's Royals...

Well, the O's lost 2/3 to the Royals and could have very well been swept had that ball not gotten stuck under the fence last night.

The offense pounced on mistakes, they stole bases, and their bullpen is the best part of their staff.

I expected to win 2/3 this series since I hadn't seen the Royals at all this year outside of the standings and wasn't a believer yet, but I'll admit, they look pretty darn good.

The AL Central could have a shake-up this year.

Glad to see you back to your old self again, Sean.

We only lost 1 of 3. The third game is still being played.

I know you're pessimistic by nature but you have to wait a bit before you post these things.

Very unclassy.

They are going to be a nightmare for every team in MLB if a decent amount of their prospects pan out. You're right, they don't look bad right now (I still expect them to be under .500 this year) with a lot of re-treads, but when their true talent comes up, watch out. Moustakas would sound really nice after Markakis, and would have to be the best 1-2 punch of obviously Greek-Americans ever, haha.

Aside from what you think about me and my view of the team, don't you agree these Royals look pretty good?

For a team that most wondered if they were going to only lose a hundred games or approach and pass 110, they look great.

Of course, they've played one more game than the Orioles and given up 12 more runs. Their pitching is essentially the opposite of the Orioles, with crappy starters and great relief. Of course, their starters are not going to improve while their relievers likely fall back to Earth at least a bit. They are also reaping the benefits of the Jeff Francouer honeymoon before pitchers remember who he is and he collapses into his normal poor-hitting self; his career numbers in April far outstrip any other month.

Hosmer is going to help, and they have a great future, but they have a much better chance of being the 2005 Orioles than the 2008 Rays.

Agreed, but if you had to pick a roster in 2013 the Royals roster is the one I would pick over any other team in MLB for short term success. I truly think they will contend for a title in the next couple years.

You don't think this team is due for a pretty hard regression to the mean here?

3 of their starters have an ERA over 5. And I don't think Chen will stay below 4.00 all year or even 5.00. And O'Sullivan the other guy under 5.00 has a career ERA of 5.35.

Franceour has never had a season of over 1.7 WAR. Betemit can't seem to stay healthy enough to log more than 300 PA's in any season. BTW, his BABIP is 415. Even if I give you Gordon and Butler, if Betemit gets hurt and Franceour cools off as he always does that line up is already loaded with 4 660 OPS guys or lower. Cold streaks by the hitters will really send that team into a tailspin. KC also leads the league in runs, they were 50 runs below league average last year. They are +30 to the league average this year.

Do you really think they are that much better in the long term? Or do they have a flash in the pan going on. If their offense was league average, which I think it's much closer to, they'd have a -10 Run differential. A fall is coming. Plus...come on. It's the Royals.

Though Hosmer looks like he could be legit.
