He wouldn't be on the roster until the end of May. So we would be able to keep one of Flaherty or Miller as a RH DH bat, supplemented by Wieters and Reynolds. If Manny came back after 50 G's, we would have to dump Flaherty/Miller for him. That would be OK, if they aren't hitting but if they are you have to release Manny and eat his 1M salary. If they suck, then Manny is a RH DH.

I am pretty sure that the Restricted list removes a player from both 25 and 40 man rosters. After The first day of the season.

I meant that Manny is done as a player and that he would be a void on the roster even after he returned from the suspension.

Perhaps I'm crazy, but I've always liked Manny and would enjoy watching him hit (if he can still hit). I'm not advocating that they sign him, but if they did, it would add a little something to the games for me.
