well 3.5 back yanks about to take lead
We're not over coming a 5 run deficit in 2 innings ... 1 now. Put this one in the loss column. Just hope the Braves hold on, and we don't lose any ground.

The Yankees had runners on first and second with nobody out in the 7th inning, and they failed to score.

4-3 Braves after 7 innings complete.

Showwalter has been absolutely abysmal this series.

He is struggling mightily to figure out how national league games are played.

Why on gods green earth do you bring in the longman for 2/3 of an inning when we are just pinch hitting for him next inning?

Horrible horrible managing buck.

I'm sorry, but you're the one who cd use some tips on how substitution switches are made in the NL. Hope you've figured it out by now. Keep in mind that Buck managed Arizona for a few years.

He had a sure 5-4-3dp and decided to go home and wound up getting the lead runner, hwoever, the next two runners moved up, which is where the next two runs came from.

Reynolds botches throws at third base, but Betemit lacks judgement. It's almost as if he needs someone to remind him of what to do in particular situations. Can't imagine Hardy making the same dumb mistakes.

It does. Dickey shouldn't count. But Santana is not quite the Santana of old, and it started in the ATL series. Hopefully they can pull out of it.

Yeah, the old Santana who never used to throw a darn no-hitter like he did a few starts ago.

Yes....he did a double switch. Didn't see that until betimit blew that rundown.

It was still terrible managing and it cost us runs.

Terrible? Buck's two main objectives were achieved: Betemit led off the next inning and got one of only 5 Oriole hits and Eveland got to pitch the eighth b/c there was no need to pull him for a pinchhitter.

Granted Betemit is a defensive liability at third base, but it was a calculated risk: the likelihood of being an offensive boost (Betemit has proven himself valuable as a late-inning power hitter) leading off the next inning and possibly later as well vs. the probability of being involved in a crucial defensive play and blowing it (very low percentage). Being down 3 to 0 at that point in the game, Showalter probably concluded that generating more offense (three runs in two innings vs. the Mets' BP) and trying to hold the line by matching Eveland up against Ike Davis and Dan Murphy the next inning were more important.
