Time for a Bird?

So, uh, how is it that I don't have a whole flock of birds? I'm pretty sure me and Tony are the two who have been at this site the longest now of anyone. For me, it's 11 years. There's also nothing I haven't done around here. Post. Write. Edit. Report. Negotiate.

Even got the place named best website in all of Baltimore by the Baltimore City Paper in 2004! Tony was half a world away when that happened! And not just best web sports site. BEST WEB SITE PERIOD!

And what do I have? Well, Tony is a great friend and we have fun going to games. But I don't see any birds up above my name.

(and this is a good place to mention Weams is the effing man around here, man the guy is something else)

1,500 posts is generally quite a stretch to "earn a bird." Now, I know McLovin added 3 extra birds to Scottie and Roy and 5 extra to Tony for being OH capo di tutti capi, so work it out with them ;)

There should be a bird tax on the high achieving bird holders.
No, no, no, what we need is to give a bird tax cut to those with two or fewer birds, the bird middle class, if you will.

You are both wrong. Those with the most rep can give the most rep. You make it easier for those with 3 or more birds to get more rep then the rep will trickle down from them to the other posters.

Well, that should work in theory but I haven't gotten a freeakin seed from some of the 1 percenters on here.

I can think of one past and two present "heavy hitters" that have, to the best of my recollection, not repped me since I have become a plus member.

I am also, I think, seriously in the rep hole with another poster.

New here and at first I thought this thread was asking Tony to go to the pet store, buy some birds, and send them to dedicated contributers as a form of thank you for sticking with us through the tough times.

/facepalm

In other news I now have a foul mouth yankee hating parrot on my wishlist. Give him a little Oriole hat and teach him to dance on Oriole homeruns. (everyones got to dream)

Do your green bars start over every time you get a bird? I saw 2 bars on yours and nearly choked on my beer! Rep to you because I am sure that I missed you many times that I apreciated what you posted but didnt take the time to show it!

    • Fantastic pickup by Elias and big kudos to O’Hearn for taking advantage of the resources to improve. He’s a great story.
    • Given his injury history and what’s happening right now, Means may make more money as an Oriole next year than as a free agent. He may have to settle for league minimum as a FA but would do better than that in arbitration. Heck, unless he’s effective at least a little this year then the orioles might release him after the season to avoid paying more than league minimum. I hope Means recovers, very much so, but this scenario is possible imo.    ps. I guess I ignored the part where you said if Means thinks he is healthy.
    • What I'd like to see in the next game Holliday plays, is for him to keep his eyes following through on the ball when he swings. In the last game I saw, he was yanking his head off the zone when he swung and couldn't see the bat to the ball. He was missing wildly and it wasn't even competitive. So, keep your eye on the ball! Follow all the way through! If your swing is so violent that it's yanking your head off the sight of the ball, then adjust your mechanics because you can't hit what you can't see!
    • What a great example of pedantic! Please tell us you meant to do that. I honestly can’t tell these days.
    • Well it certainly doesn't look like he'll be winning Rookie of Year award. And if we send him down for like the tiniest amount of time, we get him for another year, right? I think if this poor hitting continues it's financial mismanagement not to send him back down. Grayson got sent down and came back way better.
    • He certainly isn't a bust but I wasn't happy with the pick at the time and I don't love using the second overall pick for that type of player profile. Westburg signed for slot so he's irrelevant but Mayo was a great use of the money saved.
