A Plea to end the Gary Glitter "Hey, You Suck!" chant

How can we who bemoaned the wine and cheese crowds that just laid there and were quiet. We longed for the rowdy and loud Memorial Stadium days and now want to cry about saying "hey you suck"? Really just be happy the fans are making noise.

The baseball gods want noise. Adam Jones wants noise.

Tell us the whole story next time you are "in that Place" please? I think we could all use a Gurgi laugh.

I do agree with this, though. It's not my favorite thing, but I'd rather them make noise than no noise, for sure.

Any noise is good noise. But you ain't seen nothin' yet. B-B-B- Baby, you ain't seen nothin' yet. Something that you never gonna forget.

It was just a year ago that we were crying that the Yankees and Red Sox invaded us and dominated us. I say, keep up the audience participation. As long as it is not the wave.

I have a kid but really we need to not worry so much about shocking their little souls. They are tougher than we know and they enjoy a little ribbing also.

So, during little league games, we should all chant "Hey! You Suck!" to little Tommy batting 9th after he strikes out? I generally agree about not sheltering children to much, but there has to be a line. right?

If I was watching the Yankee games on tv as a Yankee fan, I would be depressed. Those 14,000 O's fans from last night easily were much louder than a crowd twice it's size in New York.

When I was a young lad haunting the confines of Memorial Stadium we rarely had crowds of more than twenty thousand unless it was deep in a playoff race. And we were crazy loud.

I think as a little kid I would of loved the chance to throw off the shackles of conformity and chant "Hey You suck"! Kids love nothing more than being a little naughty and not being able to get in trouble for it.

But you admit that you have a "unique" perspective...

I thought that Gary Glitter's music was banned from sporting events due to all his child molestation, child rape, child porn charges?

This. I find it ironic that the Blue Band at PSU still plays their version of it.

I can see both sides of the argument on this one. Personally I don't care either way, but I understand why some do. I say we reserve it only for Yankee and Red Sox games. As much crap as those arrogant fan bases have given us, a little "you suck" to them isn't a big deal in my book.
