And yet...winning record.

True. But when your pitching is struggling, and then you get a great start, it hurts when you only score 1 run and get 2 hits off a mediocre AAA pitcher, and lose. Archer had a worse ERA than Garcia and Britton at AAA. He was demolished his last start against Cleveland, and for good reason. He's simply not that good, yet we made him look amazing, which has become a common theme. We have put up pathetic offensive games against Haren, Harrell, Keuchel, Porcello, and now Archer. All in the last 8 games. We are lucky our pitching has been very good in all of those starts or else we might have only 1/2 wins in those last 8 games and be flirting with a .500 record. Our pitching has been good enough the last week or so for us to go on a run and catch the Red Sox but our offense looks horrible.

Jones's average is going to sink like a stone if he keeps chasing balls.

It already has... .25 points in batting average and nearly .75 points OPS in less than 2 weeks. His approach at the plate might be the worst in the league. It's amazing to think of what he could do if he even had an average approach at the plate.

I'll give credit to Tampa. Shutting down our lineup ain't childs play. We'd be thumping our chests if we did that to Detroit. Good pitching can make hitters look pretty silly.

Except it's not good pitching. It's bad pitching. This was more pathetic than the Gnats getting dominated by Freddy Garcia.

Looked pretty good to me.

Well of course he looked good. We only had 2 hits. We made him look good. We didn't make him throw pitches and only hit 3 balls hard against him. That doesn't mean he's good though. Look at his last start. He had a 4.60 ERA last year. He had a 3.96 ERA at AAA, while giving up a hit per inning, which does nothing to suggest he's anything above average.

Garcia looked good against the Nats too, but was it him, or was it the Nationals' hitters incompetence? Look at Garcia's last start. He got hammered. Why? Because he's not that good and that's what happens to bad pitchers.

We could have had a better approach, granted. But the kid shut us down. Is he going to the Hall of Fame? Dunno. But he was a very good pitcher tonight. No doubt.

Sometimes you just gotta tip you hat.

Roy, exactly. Constantly pretending other professional players have no talent is silly. Not only that, it will make a person bitter. The O's will bounce back and win tomorrow and Sunday. Then we can get back to talking about how bad Matt Wieters is. :D

We had 2 hits against a terrible pitcher! He's worse than Garcia! Sorry to burst your bubble that the offense suddenly can't hit. It hasn't just been today. The only ones hitting right now are Flaherty and Hardy. Everyone else looks terrible.

Kind of a ridiculous comparison. Archer is the #4 rated Rays prospect and could be an up and coming star for all we know. He throws in the high 90's and has nasty stuff. Freddie Garcia was once a good pitcher, but now is washed up and trying to survive by throwing junk.

Sorry but its hard to enjoy the game when a terrible pitcher gives up just 1 run, 2 hits, and throws 84 pitches through 7 innings and then it predictably comes back to hurt you later in the game.

Chris Archer is terrible?

hahahahahahahaha
