Could this be what we are asking the Mariners for?

Another good post from Dr. Detecto:

Yeah, Tui is definitely a gem. The statlines really don’t tell the story at all on him; you’re not going to have a 6′2”, 210 lb, 21-year old corner infielder with only .400 SLG power. He started out extremely raw and that seems to be where most of his focus has been; real soon the rest of his game is going to be up to par, and you’re going to see him launching 30+ HR power. There’s also been raves about his makeup, that the quarterback experience has developed true leadership ability in him. From a scouting perspective, Tui’s got to be in the same class as a Brandon Wood level prospect.

He was an All-American football star in high school and was recruited to be the starting quarterback for the University of Washington. The $2.29 signing bonus (highest in M’s franchise history at the time) can tell you what they thought of his draft status.

Don’t believe for a second that he’s easy for the M’s to give up. This is a guy who was THE standout high school player in the Washington area, with two famous athlete brothers who are well known in the community. He was/is going to be their Cal Ripken. O’s fans drooling over Mark Teixeira, Gavin Floyd, and Nick Adenhart should be able to appreciate what it means for a player to be an ‘area guy’.

Triunfel is obviously the glam spect, but it sounds like neither Triu or Tui are going to stay at SS - which makes Tui’s greater power potential much more significant. Add in the facts that Tui is closer to the majors, less risky, and with a much more powerful build. He’s more than acceptable as a ‘compromise’, especially if it means the O’s could secure both Tillman and Sherrill in the deal as well.

Sickels didn't like him much, but the guys on that site seem to think he's going to be a star. The only problem is he really doesn't have a place to play. I have no problem with him being the 4th player of that deal. He seems more ML ready than say Drew Stubbs...
