Those saying 25 are assuming that we beat the Yanks in a game. The correct number is 26 because we don't have to win a game vs the Yanks at all.

If we go 24-8 the rest of the way and all 8 losses are to the Yanks we finish 99-63. The Yankees go 31-1 and they are also 99-63 which is a tie for ust o clinch he division they would have to loose 2 games for us to clinch. So 24 +2 is 26.

32 games left.

8 against Yankees.

24 against non-Yankees.

We would have to win a game against the Yankees to get 25 more wins.

I am not even sure what that means nowhere does it say we have to win 25 games. We can win all 24 games against everyone but the Yanks and if that happens and the Yankees only loose 1 game the rest of the way we do not win the division. They would have to loose 2 games making the magic number 26.

Lets try to simplify.

We go 24-8 all losses vs the Yanks. They go 32- 0 they win division, 31-1 the divison is a tie, 30-2 we win division

We go 23-9 all losses vs the Yanks. They go 31-1 they win divison, 30-2 the divions ties, 29-3 we win division.

We go 22-10 all looss vs Yanks. They go 30-2 they win division, 29-3 the division ties, 28-4 we win the division.

and s fourth.

So the total number of wins by us and losses by the Yanks has to add up to atleast 26 for us to win division.

Those saying 25 are just wrong. Those saying 25, are saying it because they are of the belief that the Orioles can lock up the division with 25 wins. While that's true, that doesn't necessarily have to happen...and it probably won't happen that way. There just has to be a combination of O's wins and Yankees losses, equaling out to 26.

Everyone is right in what they're saying here so why is everyone arguing? The magic number is 26. And yes, 25 wins clinches the division because 25 wins ensures that the Yankees lose at least one. Thus our 25 wins and their one loss equals the magic number of 26.

The argument is that the "25 people" are saying that 25 is the magic number. So, no, everyone isn't right in what they're saying.

I rather be wrong and true than right and false. What? Nothing. Go O's!
