Also, Buehrle has exactly 199 career wins.

His next W will be # 200.

2 no-hitters (including 1 perfect game), a World Series ring with a team that had not won it all in 88 years, pretty soon to be more than 200 wins ......

It's been quite a nifty career that the left-hander has carved out for himself.

All Hall Famers. Buehrle has quietly had a very good career. Don't think he's HoF worthy but he's had a very good career.

I've always liked watching him pitch. He works very fast, gets ahead, and fields his position well.
Average fastball velocity 83.8 M.P.H., and seemingly falling. Not sure how he does it, but good for him.

You two combined are "Chancellor Puddinghead:"

"Funny, Buehrle is both the slowest and the fastest pitcher in baseball. His fastball peaks maybe at 85 M.P.H., one of the slowest in the league. He is also the quickest worker in the league. I believe he averages 15 seconds between pitches, where the average M.L..B pitcher takes 22-25 seconds. May not sound like a big deal, but when you watch a Buehrle game, it's a delight. They're so quick and smooth."

The streak has ended.

Buehrle fell 2 innings short, finishing the season with 198 innings pitched.

He entered tonight's game against the D-Rays needing to pitch 8.67 innings to reach 200, and he pitched only 6.67 innings.

That's a shame. The Blue Jays kind of stretched out his days between starts in the last month or so, instead of pitching him every fifth game. He only started 5 times in the final 32 games, covering covering 35 days. I don't know whether the Jays were protecting him to have him fresh for the playoffs, or wehether they just felt they had better options. Among other things, they wanted to get Marcus Stroman back on the mound, and he made four starts in September.

If I were the Jays, depending on what their playoff rotation plans are, I'd consider putting Buehrle in as a relief pitcher tomorrow for a couple of innings to let him reach 200 again. He's been a steady performer for that team, as always.

The pursuit of stats.

I find this hilarious, they tried to get him the record and in doing so gave up home field to the Royals.
