This story would die if Duquette would just state that he's happy in Baltimore, does not want to leave and has no intention of leaving his current position for another job.

But he can't seem to do it. On MLB Radio he was told that Angelos expects him to honor the last 4 years of his contract. He replied, "That's good to hear and I do have a contract and I always honor my contract. I appreciate the interest and I don't have anything else to add."

Then he was asked whether he would approach Angelos about getting out of his contract if he wanted to be the Blue Jays' CEO. He said, "The good thing is that baseball's always interesting and there's always a lot of opportunities and if you do a good job, the opportunities follow you."

Approached by a few members of the local media after the interview, Duquette still declined to talk about the Jays and said, "I'm here to represent the Orioles."

He's keeping this story alive with his inability to flat out state, "I'm not interested in going anywhere". Is he privately interested and does not want to end Toronto's interest that keeps him from stomping out the rumors?

Since he can't discuss this directly with the Blue Jays, how can he really know how interested he is?

I think it's natural and understandable for Dan to be interested. I'm not so upset about Dan potentially leaving as I am about the timing, and the seemingly conflicting reports about where the Blue Jays are in the process. One minute Dan has the job and Angelos is standing in his way, the next minute the Blue Jays are also interested in Kenny Williams and Terry Ryan, then a day later it comes out that the Jays' president is sticking around for one more year. I feel like we are being jerked around here, and not by Duquette.

The days of the front office leaks are pretty much over. And Ken finds himself competing with folks his own height for the quick draw events. It has to be depressing for him o have fallen so far. He could have been a contender.

Probably from Toronto. When the Toronto assistant GM turned down the Orioles job he had play by play details. I wonder why that guy isn't up for the head Blue Jays job?

Well that is a simple question to answer. He is to much of a tool for even the Blow Jays

Is OH a place where we can make fun of people because they are short? What about fat guys? They can be pretty funny.

I feel the same way. Like the Blue Jays new PA wouldn't let this happen. Especially at this point in the offseason which is more than obvious. And either they or the media are trying to stir up controversy. Why now?? Why is it so important to find a president at this exact point and time?? Talk about going against unwritten rules. PA is taking heat for possibly not letting a man advance himself but what about the Blue Jays and their intentionally disruptive tactics? The Blue Jays should be called out for this BS too IMO.

I was really just indicating that his competetion on breaking trades are under 13, not really concerned about his height any more than I am about my girth,

She has decided to stay with him another year. But rumor has it that if Dipper were to make himself available...He'd have a chance.

When reached for his comments, Dipper responded, "I am currently married and enjoy my time with Krissy. I am flattered that Alyssa is interested."

    • Well, they likely would not have drafted an overslot SS with the second round pick if they had taken another HS SS first overall, so would you rather have Henderson and Rutschman or just Witt?
    • It’s my understanding that nationally televised games are usually blacked out. Consider a free trial subscription of Fubo if they are still offering it.
    • The Orioles starters absolutely have to do better against the Royals. You can't ask this bullpen to pitch most of the game and expect to win. Right now I probably trust Coulombe the most and Soto (which I never would have guessed a couple weeks back). Perez has been really shaky recently to the point I'm wondering is he nursing a tired arm or minor injuey. Cano hasn't been good as well and O's really need him to get back into a groove. And Akin is usually trustworthy, but only starting the inning clean.
    • I'll be working at Gate F.  If you're getting drunk at Pickles before the game and then walk through the closest gate, you'll walk right past me.
    • What happens if it rains all day?
    • For me, bullpen strategy in a short series is developing a core principle or two and working backwards from that. That’s usually going to involve how we want to pitch to their best guys. In this case, there’s really no way to game Witt. He doesn’t have any discernible platoon splits, and in fact he destroyed RHPs this year. He doesn’t even have any particular pitches he struggles against. If you have to pitch to him, power stuff seems to be the way to go — if he has any weakness, it seems like maybe it’s LHPs who can attack him with high velocity and some sort of off speed weapon (Skubal, Framber, Kikuchi, EdRod, Rodon, Sale, Gore). So maybe you’re looking at Soto and Perez there, although you really just shouldn’t be pitching to him at all if you can avoid it. Beyond him, the other “hero” is Salvador Perez. And that’s from where I’d be building out my strategy. He probably should not see a LHP all series. There’s a fairly meaningful career platoon split there (109 wRC+ to 101), and it’s been more pronounced this year (130 to 110). I would be looking to force feed him ABs against Cano (1/4 with a single), Webb (0/2 with two Ks), and Dominguez. He’s always had trouble with offspeed stuff, which means Webb might be the preferred option. They’ve faced a ton of LH starters in the last week or so, but it seems like their preferred lineup against RHPs stacks LH hitters like Melendez and Gurriel behind Perez. Melendez is awful against LHPs, so ideally Perez might be the last hitter that the starters see. They pinch hit very liberally in platoon fashion in the bottom half of the lineup, so if you brought in someone like Akin behind the starter, they might very well hit for him. Forcing them to do that erases a lot of the platoon stacking in the late innings, so you could subsequently bring in a RHP to pitch to Perez without the same concern that they’d be exposed after him.    In sum, I think the ideal attack plan is for Burnes/Eflin/Kremer to see Perez three times, then bring in Akin or Cionel to pitch to the bottom of what will likely be a lefty-heavy lineup. They’ll potentially PH there, but that’s okay because none of those guys are that good. You then go to one of the RHPs for the top of the lineup, which it seems will consist of Pham, Witt (pitch around), and Perez. Then back to Coulombe or Soto for the bottom of the lineup again.
    • I have two tickets to Game 1 of the WC which I cannot use due to work travel.  Section 352, row 4, seats 9 & 10.  Asking $70 total for the two.  Paid $205 to the Orioles as a season plan member.   PM me if interested.  Paypal preferred.
