One thing I forgot about Schoenndienst -- the Saint Louis icon was traded to the Giants, and then to the Milwaukee Braves to help hem win the 1957 World Series (and lose the following year).

So between playing and managing, Red has three World Series rings and two additional National League pennants.

I'm sure he has some great stories to tell. Made his MLB debut roughly six months prior to my Dad's birth, and he's been retired for a decade.

Not his fault that the Hall saw fit to induct the 1950's version of Placido Polanco. He's not the least-qualified player in Cooperstown, but he's on the short list.
