I don't know the answer, but there is a poster with the history of the bird logo at Camden Yards. It is located near the kids area with the playground structure. Pretty sure this poster would have the information you are looking for.

You can always make your own if you have access to an inkjet printer. Just to a search for inkjet iron-on transfer paper.
