Good week for pretty much all the 5th starter candidates. Updating their total spring stats:

Miguel: 1-3, 14.90 9.2 IP, 22 H, 16 ER, 3 HR 5 BB, 4 K

Worley: 0-1, 6.75 9.1 IP, 13 H, 7 ER, 2 HR 1 BB, 6 K

Despaigne: 0-0, 5.91 10.2 IP, 14 H 7 ER, 1 HR 3 BB, 1 K

Wright: 1-1, 5.40 11.2 IP, 14 H 7 ER, 0 HR 3 BB, 12 K

Wilson: 0-0, 2.89 9.1 IP, 11 H, 4 ER, 1 HR 0 BB, 6 K

Wilson has the lowest ERA and BB/9, Wright has the highest K/9, Despaigne has 1 K in 10.2 IP. Miguel has the best track record, but the worst spring numbers. Still hard to pick a guy out of this bunch.

Tyler Wilson has nothing to prove in the minors. He needs to be in the majors.

Saying the a pitcher has nothing to prove in the minors is true about Wilson, Wright, Mcfarland, Despaigne, Worley, Drake and Gonzo. Everyone of these guys are at least 26 years old and have had success at AAA at one time or another. Its more about who Buck believes will help the O's in the majors while the others wait at AAA until they are needed.
