It seems like he's been doing that for months. He needs to get back to what he was doing in the 1st half.

I was thinking that we always have a trim the fat thread at the end of the year where we think we are going to get better by addition by subtraction. Not too many sustained performances like that this year.

Mac will be back, unless he is out of options.

Joseph will get an RBI next year.

Wright and Wilson will have roles and are young.

Reimold and Stubbs will be milb ST invitee's at best

Despaigne is already gone, but did his job and ate some IP for us.

This pitching staff will be better next year. The bullpen has been lock down without O'day. I see Buck getting more confidence in Drake. Hart has earned a role. Ubaldo really changed the rotation. Miley and Gallardo could have bounce back years. Lots to be happy about this year, and lots to be excited for next year over.

McFarland will be out of options after the season is over. I doubt he is back next year on the major league roster.

Going back to the OP. Thanks for that; I hadn't seen that we led in staff ERA.

Here is where the Orioles ranked among AL teams each month in ERA:

April -- 21st

May -- 20th

June -- 19th

July -- 22nd

Aug. -- 27th

Sept. -- 1st

Strange game, isn't it? :scratchchinhmm:

As they just pointed out on WTW. Gallardo, Miley and Ubaldo all had the worst seasons of their careers. They reverted at the end to who they were before.

And more innings from O'Day, and a stronger Gallardo.

Of course, there are always going to be injuries to pitchers, but right the near-term future looks better than it has for a while.

Also , them not pitching Wilson and Wright helps immensely.

He's good. Hitters in Norfolk either didn't hit off him or had weak ground balls from what I saw. Dude looks like a RH Britton

Those must be MLB rankings, not AL rankings. Yes, it's a strange, unpredictable game. That's why it's the most fascinating sport to follow, IMO.
