So judging from the responses in this thread, the Orioles are going to have a roughly 160-170m payroll.

Nice! Someone might want to tell Mr A and see how he feels about that.

Or maybe start crunching some numbers and see how unrealistic most of this stuff in combination is.

Qualifying offers? You have to offer them with the expectation they will accept (see Wieters, Matt 2016). They simply can't (won't) afford one let alone both, unless a big salary is dumped. Before Miley they probably could have squeezed one in, but with him in the mix now that goes out the window.

I predict a very rough offseason for the fans, as per usual. But it might be really bad this go around because you have a team full of good players, a couple of which are free agents, and a bunch of the others are getting big arb raises. And good luck squeezing some extra blood out of that stone in his nice plush office in the warehouse to keep a legit contender together. It aint happening.

What was your expectation for 2016 payroll? Surely not what it ended up being.
