Welington slipped on the dugout steps shortly before the game, and suffered a left knee strain. That's why he was a late scratch.

Fortunately, he is in the lineup tonight.

Castillo stated that his knee is fine:

But -as Drungo used to intone - "veteranosity" and "clutchitude" - hard to quantify.....

Why rag on Wieters in this thread? The O's catchers are having a great (combined) year. Does it make people (or just Weams?) feel good that Wieters is fading out?

I like Wieters. I was just comparing the production after deciding to let him go. I found it interesting. Many folks attribute the poor production of some of the Orioles pitchers to the lack of Wieters.

How many times in the last month have I posted the Nats' record with and without Wieters?

With Wieters: 69-28

Without Wieters: 13-26

I don't think the Nats are concerned with Wieters' production.

I don't either. Not one bit. As I said, many think his absence has devolved the pitching.

For the record, I'm overall happy with our production at C.    I have some reservations about Castillo's defense but it's pretty hard to argue with his offense.    The overall package is worth more than what we're paying him, for sure.
