I realize some don't like Dan here, but if you saw his caring and emotion in introducing this young man...well, you could tell Dan Duquette is a very quality human being. I know him. Trust me, he is.

There is a huge difference between liking the job he's done & liking him. From what I've seen he appears to be a good man. There is a human side and a fan side. The fan side wants to give him a wedgy every time I see Davies or Bridwell win, the human side just wants to see him happy & to see Camden rocking with his family proud of him winning a ring.

When I search Twitter for O's highlights or updates on prospects it's very rare to find an update on Hays or RM that doesn't say, "good now Dan can trade him for a pile of crap". Reading those things, knowing there are people here who know him, knowing that a man can't do more than his best & I believe Dan does, & knowing when I'm negative it brings nothing to a community I enjoy very much, I have put myself in a Duq treatment program. It's very hard for me not to pour out my frustration when I disagree with something that has immediately impacted our playoff chances or that I see limiting our chances to keep the group together - but we have the opportunity to make gains every day if we really care to. I don't need to repeat my thoughts on Duq, I root for him. He's got one of the best jobs in the world but it's not easy. I believe he's more frustrated by the pitching that's had success elsewhere than anyone & I believe it played a part in not acquiring Miguel, as did other things. I think he's got a tough job & I am pulling for him to work some magic with Angelos that will convince him to let him sign Manny. It's not easy when your competitors sign the best international talent & are waiting to offer your best players because your owner won't keep them.

Id rather lose with Joe Gibbs than win with a Mike Vick. I've always wanted to be represented by decency more than wins. I'd love to find the perfect combination, maybe Dan will prove to be it, we've had some exciting years of late & are in the midst of another entering the weekend.

Just remember one thing. Dan doesn't make any move or trade unless Angelos and Buck sign off on it.

Absolutely. He's got restrictions that no GM envies. He's been a bit unlucky with some of the success these guys have had. I am certain it weighs on him. He cares, that's what I want. If he had a ceremonial signing each day I wouldn't criticize him if he traded Hays for a meatball sub. He's working me over now.

I really enjoyed watching this young man immersed in the game last night.  If in Jimmy Martino's position, I bet a lot of us on here would have made the same wish that Jimmy did.  And how many of us who have lost a loved one to cancer would have loved to enjoy with them the VIP experience Jimmy enjoyed?  A great reminder that the opportunity to be passionate about Orioles baseball is a blessing, win or lose.

As long as the sub isn't from Subway I think it would be a great trade.

    • And we've seen similar with Kjerstad. Kjerstad might be the best pure hitting prospect in the Orioles system of recent years besides Gunnar. I want to see him playing everyday next year is possible none of this sitting him versus LHP more often than not. These prospects need to get their reps and stop treating them like John Lowenstein and Benny Ayala.
    • I don’t see Elias trading off prospects anymore at least top guys.  We have moved a few guys in last year and I expect they try to build that back up.  They should have money to use if they want to add talent.
    • Blah, well Rob Manfred has to be happy along with Fox network. A Yankees-Mets World Series match up is still on the table and the Dodgers as well if they win tomorrow. I knew the Royals would get jettisoned by the Yankees without too much of a fight.
    • For Mountcastle …Maybe Chase Petty and Tristan Smith?
    • I’m guessing they ask for Mayo or Basallo of Kjerstad. For me …I’d give them Kjerstad since he’s defensively challenged IMO. Maybe Kjerstad, McDermott, Beavers, and O’Ferrall?
    • 192 wins in two seasons is a pretty strong argument to stay the course.  That said, I wonder if the young players wouldn't be better off long-term if the scientific matchups took a back seat to the raw talent a little more than we've seen.  Overthinking something can be a thing you know.
