Other than Wieters, who was a Boras client and hyped to the gills, when have the Orioles played service time games?

What rookie has really warranted it other than Wieters? Mancini earned a spot last spring, yet didn't come North with the team. Was it due to service time, I don't know.

Not to worry. The team would dfa Susac or Wynns if they were to sign Lucroy.

Susac 100%

That originally read, "Not to worry. The team would dfa Susac. Or Wynns. If they were to sign Lucroy."

The I edited it because I didn't like the sentence fragments. Stupid me.

Yep, Susac.

Not arguing for the any particular Orioles rookie to get a starting job on opening day (although I’m on record as wanting a platoon of Sisco/Joseph), but I do want to point out that rookies often are ready to contribute right away.

In 2017 for example, there were 61 rookie hitters who exhausted their rookie eligiblity.

30 players were 1.5 fWAR/600 PA or better.

24 players were 2.0 fWAR/600 PA or better.

14 were 3.0 fWAR/600 PA or better.

8 were 4.0 fWAR/600 PA or better.

Median production was 1.4 fWAR/600 PA

Mean production was 1.7 fWAR/600 PA

I worked it out on google sheets on my phone.

I can post the data when I get to my computer, later tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks! No rush. That would be interesting to see.

Seems like there have been a higher than normal influx of rookies -- from Machado to Harper to Arenado to Correa and Bryant and so on -- over the past five years than there used to be. Is there data about the impact of rookies per capita over the decades?
