I would start Peterson at 3B and Vielma at 2B and bat them 8 and 9.  Might as well continue with the offensive black holes, right?  Maybe they can improve the defense though.

I actually really like this pick up. His career .234 average and .319 OBP aren't great, but I like the .350 OBP in 350 ABs in 2016 and think he's at least an upgrade as a platoon option. He has a .331 career OBP against RHP. I wouldn't mind seeing him and Beckham share 3B/UTL duties once Beckham is healthy and Schoop returns. He's not a huge piece, but I think he's a useful piece and one that won't just swing for the fence.

Before you get too critical of his career .319 OBP,  keep in mind that our team OBP for this year so far is .284.

Maybe he should bat lead off?

Minor league stats with the bat are very comparable to Rickard. Both about .280/.380/.800, but have not been able to translate that high OBP to the majors. Still, an infielder version of Rickard is better than what we got right now.

Nothing special, but he plays a lot of positions and has to be better than Sardinas. Basically a younger, cheaper version of Flaherty with a little less power and little more hit tool.
