No, for a while it determined World Series home field advantage. For some crazy reason.

You actually can not everyone has to pitch an inning or throw season high pitches (Hand). And 3 or 4 pitchers weren't available to pitch just there to sit. Really not difficult at all with a brain.

He never told Cito he didn’t want to pitch.    It’s well documented what happened.

Thanks for this. Confirmed to me how dense Cito's attitude was. And I actually like how Mussina manipulated the situation--it took guts for a 24-year-old to do that!

Mussina absolutely shouldn’t have showed him up, but Gaston’s decision was outrageous.    What manager doesn’t play the all star representatives who are from the host city?    Forget how Mussina felt; it’s an affront to the fans attending the game and those from Baltimore watching on TV.
