What is the qualIty of our pitchIng?

We have the worst defense in baseball.  According to the stats at least 1 run per game of our run differential is attributable to our awful defense.  Take the game tonight.  Bundy wasn’t sharp at all tonight but if Machado is at 3B the Yankees don’t get any of the 5 runs.  

How much better is this pitching staff with a quality defense?

I am not trying to make excuses for Bundy or any of the starting pitching but when your team fails to score runs as much as this team does I have to believe it is harder to pitch.  They are so aware that they make one mistake and you are out of the game.  2-0 is basically an insurmountable lead to overcome.  This is pure speculation but I think the defense adds a run to their ERA and the always tight sphincter adds a run as well.

Agreed. Which is why they should focus on speed and defense in this rebuild

You can improve fast when you can stop the other team from scoring and manufacture runs instead of relying on home runs.
