(vs. REDS, 5/02)

Noah Syndergaard became the first pitcher in 36 years to hit a home run and throw a shutout, in a 1-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds.

The last pitcher to homer in a 1-0 complete-game shutout win was the late Bob Welch of the Los Angeles Dodgers,  in a 1-0 win over ........ the Cincinnati Reds. ) O.o )

Welch's gem occurred on June 17, of 1983.

Syndergaard is only the 7th pitcher to accomplish the feat since 1920 (the end of the dead-ball era.)

Mets swept by the Marlins getting a total of 3 hits during the weekend.

The Cano trade is a disaster as is their ownership, agent GM and manager.

Cespedes injures himself apparently on his ranch. Mets are playing at home; maybe he should have been with the team.

Cano doesn't run out double plays but that's nothing new. Ramos is off to a horrible start. Frazier is done. Their pitching hasn't been as good as it should.

For a team that their agent GM dubbed, the team to beat in the NL east, they are the circus show of MLB.

(vs. CUBS, 6/22)

Pete Alonso broke a tie with Cody Bellinger for the most home runs before the All Star Break by a National League player with his 26th Round Tripper of the season this afternoon.

Bellinger hit 25 Home Runs prior to the All-Star break in his Rookie season of 2017.

Mark McGwire holds the Major League record from when he swatted 33 Home Runs before the All-Star break in his Rookie season of 1987.

(vs. NATIONALS, 8/09)

The Mets' record when trailing after 8 innings was 0-44 ........ now, it's 1-44.

Michael Conforto had never had a walk-off hit in his Major League career (2015 - Present, 533 Games Played, 2,076 Plate appearances)  ........ he nailed a ball over Adam Eaton's head for his first one ever tonight

The Very Next Day ........

With the Mets trailing by a score of 3-2 in the bottom of the 8th inning, Luis Guillorme the very first Major League run of his career to tie the game.

The Mets tacked on the go-ahead run later that inning on a Sac-Fly, and went on to win for the 15th time in their last 16 games ........ their best 16-game run in almost 3 decades, since the 1990 team went 15-1 over a 16-game stretch between June 12th and June 29th of that season.
