It was a ground ball right back to the pitcher, which, even with the fastest of runners at the plate, is the easiest to complete a double play, 

Regardless, Nunez did the right thing by running and making the pitcher make a decision ........ I would much rather have runners at 1st and 2nd with 2 outs than to take a chance on having an inning-ending double play, which could have happened if he had stayed put at 3rd base.
