Eddie Rosario

“Eddie Rosario is a good enough player to have his flaws scrutinized. He doesn’t reach base enough and he doesn’t add much outside of his pop. But that power has been consistent, and it makes him an above-average performer. Some within the game even believe that his production isn’t that far off from his projected salary. However, the Twins have Alex Kirilloff waiting in the wings. He’ll be paid near the league minimum. Meanwhile, Rosario will cost nearly $10 million. That’s a decent chunk of change for a team that could throw that money toward their pitching needs. Barring a surprise trade, Rosario is a good bet to enter the free agent pool.”

I would at least wait until he is actually nontendered before being interested. No way we would want to pay $9M for another OF. He could be a good replacement for Mancini while we are waiting for Kjerstad.

Why are we replacing Mancini?

Rosario is probably a better defensive player than any LFer we will put out there but it would be dumb to spend money on an OFer with Diaz likely up.

This, again, goes back to the same type of conversation that has been had about Nunez.  From an offensive standpoint, Nunez and Rosario are similar, so you wouldn’t pay Rosario a lot more to DH when you could have just kept Nunez.

And you wouldn’t clutter your roster (the argument used against Nunez) with another COer when you have so many options available both now in a few months into the season.

In other words, couple our roster situation with the team unlikely willing to spend money and you can essentially lock this thread because there really isn’t much to talk about.  (Not saying mentioning him is bad, just doesn’t fit into the Os plans in anyway)

As others have pointed out, there are two reasons this is not a fit: cost and position.

I like Rosario, but I don't see the Orioles signing any Free Agents unless they cost less than what Nunez would have made in arbitration. On top of that OF is not a position of need. Even if you move Mountcastle to 1B/DH with Mancini and leave Davis on the bench, you still have Hays, Stewart, Santander, Mullins, Diaz with others waiting in the wings.
