Besides the obvious stupidity of doing something like that nowadays that creates an electronic record and could cost you your job... is there any chance that would actually WORK?

I mean you send 60 texts to some woman, asking her out, and s he makes it clear she's not interested.   So the next logical step is to send a d--- pick?   Is there one chance in a million THAT is going to change her mind?

Might not have been his goal by that point.

(vs. NATIONALS, 4/23)

It wasn't enough for) Jacob deGrom )to throw a Complete-Game Shutout with 15 Strikeouts and 0 Walks ...... he also drove in the first run of the game in the bottom of the 5th inning with an RBI-Single, and for good measure he hit another Single in the bottom of the 8th inning before finishing his masterpiece in the next half-inning.

Jacob deGrom )tied that modern Major League record (1901 - Present) for the most strikeouts by a starting picther through his first 5 starts of the season.

In 1978,) Nolan Ryan )struck out 59 batters through his first 5 starts of the season ...... de Grom has done the same this season.

On one hand, Strikeouts have been up overall recently ...... but on the other hand, starting pitchers (deGrom included) are not going as deep into games as pitchers did back in 1978 when Ryan set the record. Hence, equaling Ryan'the feat is a little less impressive because of the fact that Strikeouts are more common these days, but it's also a little more impressive because of the fact that pitchers today don't pitch nearly as many innings as they once did (making it more difficult to accrue Strikeouts simply because they are facing less batters, and recording less outs.)

That's another stat that jumps out at you ...... 4 Walks for deGrom, and 25 Walks for Nolan Ryan.

Ryan did pitch 6 more innings than did deGrom in his 5 starts )(41 to 35), )but deGrom still has an overwhelming advantage in Walks-Per-9 Innings Pitched )(1.029 for deGrom, and 5.488 for Ryan.)

Kevin Pillar of the Mets just got hit in the face with a pitch from some scrub Brave reliever (with the bases loaded).  Very scary.  He eventually got up and walked off the field but I assume he is going to the hospital to be checked.  It took a few minutes to clean the blood off home plate before they resumed play (game on ESPN).
