You have him pitch the 9th because you might not get a 10th.

The O's blow the game in the 9th and folks would be screaming about him sitting in the bullpen.

Interesting. You're right, all the times he has pitched the 9th and 10th have been on the road with us scoring in the top of the 10th. But getting the lead means a walkoff, so that means he's never pitching two at home, right? If that is the case, I'd rather have Baumann in the 9th and Bautista in the 10th. That is our best chance of getting through those two innings without a run, then we play for one in the bottom of the 10th.

And if Baumann blows it in the 9th, Felix wouldn't ever be used.  Pitching the closer in the 9th in a tie game at home, that's standard practice.

Come on now, that doesn't negate Mateo being one of the very worst hitters in baseball. He shouldn't be on the roster, and he certainly shouldn't be starting, even in a platoon role.

And?

If the O's don't throw him in the 9th and they give up a run you are complaining about that.

You don't save him for an inning that might not even happen.

No I wouldn’t have been. Using your closer in the bottom of the 9th in a tie game is dumb. 
even if they do their job, you still need to score a run in a clean inning to win.

What % of innings does a team score at least 1 run?

Why did Hyde use Webb for only 3 batters and not let him finish the inning and save Cionel to use instead of Baumann? He could have let GRod pitch one more inning and use Webb for the 8th and Cano for the 9th and Bautista for the 10th.

Because it was a left hand batter, and there is no way G Rod was getting another inning

Baumann just sucks. Was Fuji the only other available arm in the pen? We needed to win the game in the 9th, and if not certainly not give up more than one run in the 10th.

Mateo’s bunting technique is so horrible. How can you be a pro baseball player and not have any idea how to bunt?

Hopefully Coulombe will be back soon, and Hall will be called up.  We'll have to see what happens with Wells.
