He has to stay down 10 days which is all that is left, so he can't come back up unless someone goes on the IL.

Couid be a situation where they want to shut Baumann down for the season considering that he had elbow issues to start the year and didn’t pitch last year except for a few innings at the alt site.   He’s thrown just over 80 innings and maybe they figure that’s enough for 2021.   We’ll see if he pitches in any games at Norfolk, which would douse that theory.

Yea and one thing to keep In mind is that in past years, you didn’t see a lot of these moves on Sept because the rosters were larger.  
 

With the smaller roster size, the moves are more plentiful.

His velocity was down and was getting tired after just like 30 pitches. I'm fairly certain this is just the Orioles shutting down a guy who looked tired and as you stated, was coming off an elbow injury.
