Can not be upset that Angelos didn't give $23 Million to a guy who was worth $16-17 Million per. Go get Dunn for $13.5 Million per and Sheet for $13 Million per. Total spent $26.5 Million , Mark Teixeira $23 Million. I like the value we get with that extra $3.5 Million.

First of all where are you getting that he is worth 16-17 a year, I have been seeing his worth around 27-30.

Second the orioles are not going to spend the money they had set aside for Tex on Sheets and Dunn. That money was available for Tex and Tex alone I imagine.

Some lower tier pitching signings and trading Brob and Sherrill should be the next steps.

It's not the end of the Orioles universe if we lose out on Tex, and the money we'll save over the next 2 years may end up being very benefitial to the ballclub in the long run. Markakis and B-Rob need extensions and even if B-Rob walks, we've got some one in the minors to replace him.

We even have a 1st basemen by the name of Brandon Snyder who has been getting better every year and is about to hit AA. We could see him in May of next year. Reimold will probably be called up this summer at some point (if he doesn't break camp with the big league team).

Bottom line is there are still alot of positive things going for this club. Boston is only as good as their pitching will allow, and while losing out on Tex may (will) hurt, I'm still going to games this year.

Yes we can be upset, because you know what? You and I may think it's crazy to pay $23 million to one guy, but that's what he's getting, and he's getting it to play for a division rival. Meanwhile we get stuck with squat.

I'm sick of people saying that these marquee players don't deserve that much money. They deserve whatever they can get, and those who don't step up can sit on the sidelines and count their money while the Sox count their wins and playoff appearances.

(For the record, if I had any hope that we might sign Dunn and Sheets, perhaps I'd be inclined to agree with you. But I don't have any confidence in this team after the past 11 years.)

It is the end of the world.

Looking for my keys now...

...here I come.

You do realize we are talking about baseball here? I'm sure others would like to be as lucky as you if you consider the O's not getting Tex is the worst thing that could happen.

You think Sheets will want to sign here if we don't get Tex?

You've been believing Belkast's reports all offseason long. There won't be any official report of what the Orioles finally offered if he signs elsewhere. So you're all of a sudden just gonna assume that the Orioles never improved from their initial offer and that Belkast has been wrong all along and they never made a "Wow" offer?

Your spot on, as always Mack.

I'm remembering a line from last weekend that Belkast gave us, something along the lines of PA & The O's being assured that we would have the "final chance" to match or beat any offer.

Let's not jump yet fella's. This seems to align nicely with the information that Belkast & Sonny have given us.
