Anyone else see Rosenthal's article that the Angels dropped out? Published 4 minutes ago

That article says this:

The Angels are out of the Mark Teixeira sweepstakes.

The team has withdrawn its offer to the free-agent slugger, according to a source close to the negotiations.

Teixeira was traded to the Angels last July and helped the team win the AL West before bowing out in the ALDS.

MORE TO COME

For those who haven't seen it...

Let's just get this done and move on with the rest of the offseason. Signing Tex isn't enough even if we get it done and we need to start working on the rotation.

Well if the four letter network knew everything they think they do shouldn't he have signed with the Nationals because the red sox, orioles, and angels would have all dropped out?

Agreed.

That's why we should have signed him ASAP and been moved on to other things by now.

So now we have the media saying

1. The Red Sox saying thanks, no thanks, but maybe we'll talk later over 8/165-170

2. the Yanks are getting into it and willing to go 8/160.

3. The Nationals "Absolutely don't expect to win the Teixeira bidding" at 8/160

4. The Angels have withdrawn their offer of approx. 8/160

5. The Orioles haven't moved from their "flexible" original offer of 7/140-150.

Hmmmm.

Yup. Now, did they really drop out or did they drop out in the way that the Red Sox "dropped out?"

hmmmm...

Yeah, I wonder too. But for some reason I think this would be for real (although, I haven't actually read the report yet).

This only helps the O's chances - if true.

This thing may be coming to a head very soon (or not).:D

What is wrong is the ridiculous notion that Teix is the difference between being a winner and a perennial loser. With all due respect to anyone who thinks that way, it is just flat out 100% undeniably wrong.

so thats 2 of the 4 teams claiming they are out, YET we think 5 teams are still in it

Thats brutal math!

LOL, well the four letter network you speak of will probably be publishing an article any minute now saying that the "Angels aren't necessarily out of the Teixeira sweepstakes." ;)

On one hand, ESPN had done so much for sports it's insane. OTOH, it's unfortunately, like everything else, turned into just a business. It's all about the bottom line, so they gotta do what they gotta do. It's sad really, but a fact of life.
