Nah, he gets the QO and he’s gone. Thank you Tony for the great years. i expect an extension or two (not saying I agree with extending AR at this stage) , a top tier FA Pitcher, and a RH bat. A trade from our corner infield surplus for a bullpen or back of the rotation arm, and that’s all. -

Any excuses they can come up with, they will. It's always something. As I said this fanbase has been thoroughly conditioned. To be perpetual losers. What a great franchise to buy if you are Rubenstein, the previous ownership did all the heavy lifting for you destroying any notion of them ever spending any significant money in the eyes of most fans. They normalized them being able to lie to the fans, and having them eat it right up every time. -
Without a 2nd addition then we’re looking at Povich having the inside track on a spot and that’s just not a solid place to be if you have World Series aspirations. You could make a trade for a cheap but good option and sign someone better than Povich and still have something to spend on the RF/1B situation. Not saying it’s easy, but this can’t be an off-season the Orioles sit on their hands. Call me an optimist, but I think they fill the spots. -
It means that if they look to free agency for a decent SP, a good RH bat to replace Santander and a couple of bullpen pieces and it brings the payroll up $130 million that should be enough to get value out of the deals. But the O's need better than a decent SP. Last year Aaron Nola got a 7/172 deal at roughly Corbin Burnes' age. That's my benchmark for a fair market price deal for good starting pitching. Burnes probably gets more because he's a little better. But if he goes for an AAV of less than $30 million or contract length of less than 7 years to some team other than the O's, I'll be pissed. I agree that the O's don't need much in free agency near-term, but there is no longer any reason to automatically order from the budget menu either. -

I can see them signing Santander to a stupid contract. That wouldn’t shock me but they would tout it as liftoff. -
