Game Notes

• Trey Mancini's hand is wrapped in black tape, and he is unavailable to play after being hit on the hand while swinging at a pitch last night.   X-Rays show no broken bones, but they are already talking about him likely not being available tomorrow, which is rare for a team that usually puts the most positive spin on injury news only to find out  later it is worse than they initally say.   They do say they hope to avoid the IL.   So the Orioles have a 2 man bench tonight (Odor & Stowers).
• The Orioles loaded as many righties as they could in the lineup tonight, without Mancini -- 8.   In Yusei Kikuchi's major league career, lefties have hit .211/.269/.383/.652 off him, while righties have hit .278/.351/.495/.845.
• Kikuchi was the starter for Seattle last May when John Means no hit the Mariners.
• Last night was the 6th time all year the Orioles have given up more than 8 runs in a game.   The previous 5 times, the Orioles have won the next game 3 out of 5 games, and have allowed just 12 runs total in those 5 subsequent games.
• Adley Rutschman is batting cleanup for the first time in his major league career.  He is the 7th cleanup hitter the Orioles have used this year (Hays 24, Mountcastle 15, Mancini 10, Santander 9, Urias 2, Odor 1, and now Rutschman 1).

Remember one game in particular back during the Showalter era when the roof was open.  It began raining during the game and the retractable roof "crapped out" about halfway thru closing.  It was raining in the outfield but dry in the infield--or maybe vice-versa.  Just remember it was some funny stuff.

The graphic on Kikuchi's ~13% walk rate being highest in MLB among regular starters, it occurred to me him now might somewhat resemble DL Hall whenever we get him.

I saw the lineup and just cringed. It's not good at all. Hopefully Kikuchi will walk some guys.
